About Religious Education
St. Monica Church is dedicated to connecting children to Jesus Christ and His Church. Everything we do is rooted in the love of the Gospel in order to provide your child with a safe, positive environment to learn our Catholic faith.It is St. Monica's Church desire that all children grow in knowledge of their faith and in the love of Christ and His church. Parents and families are the primary religious educators of their children, and lay the foundation for this work by their example in everyday life and their participation in the faith lives of their children from baptism forward.
Grades: Kindergarten thru 9th( Pre-Confirmation I): Sundays, 9 a.m.- 9:50 a.m.
Confirmation II: Wednesday's 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. -
The Diocese requires two years of formation for the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Thus, for First Communion the two years of preparation are 2nd and 3rd grade. If your child is in 2nd grade, then he / she should be registered to begin preparation for First Communion. For Confirmation, the two years of preparation are 9th and 10th grades of high school. If your son or daughter is in 9th grade, then they should begin preparation for Confirmation.These two sacraments of initiation are very important, and this is why two years of preparation are needed. The other grades teach other aspects of our faith that deepen the child’s relationship with God. We want the parents to take an active role in your child’s religious education. Talk with them about what they are learning. Read the Bible with them. And above all, be an active participant with them at Mass on Sundays. You should continue to grow in your faith along with your child.
